That was the case for my <em><a href=\"https:\/\/checkinblog.it\/en\/6-things-to-do-glasgow-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">trip to Glasgow<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/em>, the <strong>largest city in Scotland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Glasgow, how to get there by air<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you live outside UK, the easiest and convenient way to reach Glasgow is flying to its two airports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glasgowprestwick.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Glasgow Prestwick<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/a>, located 32 miles south from the city, is mainly served by low cost companies like Ryanair;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Glasgow International Airport<\/strong>, with direct flights worldwide is one of the biggest of United Kingdom and it is just 10 miles from the centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">How to arrive to Glasgow city centre from the Airport<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I flew to Glasgow with Easyjet from Milan Malpensa, it&#8217;s a new useful connection between Italy and Scotland that I hope to use frequently for my future trips. There are many options available to <strong>get to Glasgow city centre from the Airport<\/strong>, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glasgowairport.com\/im-departing\/getting-here\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">check here<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/em> for the full list.<\/p>\n<p>Undoubtedly, the <a href=\"https:\/\/checkinblog.it\/en\/glasgow-airport-express-bus-to-city-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em><strong>Glasgow Airport Express service 500<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> operated by <strong>First Group<\/strong> is the fastest way to arrive in town. Departing every 10 minutes from Stance 1, just in front of the airport terminal, it takes 15-20 minutes to reach <strong>Buchanan Bus Station<\/strong>. Apart from that, there are different <strong>fares<\/strong> for adults, children and families as well (<em>check the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstgroup.com\/greater-glasgow\/routes-and-maps\/glasgow-airport-express\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>full price list on First Group website<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>You can pay directly to the bus driver, otherwise you can purchase your ticket in advance as a <strong>mticket<\/strong>. To do so, once you have downloaded the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.firstgroup.com\/greater-glasgow\/tickets\/mtickets-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>First Group app <\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/span>(<em>available for iOs and Android<\/em>) it is possible to buy the tickets for this bus service as well as all the others of First network. To be valid, they must be activated the day of the trip just before getting on the bus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Glasgow subway<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Glasgow is the only city in Scotland and UK, outside London, to have a subway. Not only that, it is <strong>one of the oldest in the world<\/strong>, after London and Budapest, as it was opened on 14th December 1896.<\/p>\n<p>During my stay in town I did not have the opportunity to take it because, despite being a big city, from my point of view the walk distances are just fine. Anyway, <strong>Glasgow Subway <\/strong>links the city centre with the West End and it crosses the River Clyde. Departing from <em>George Square<\/em>, the full tour takes around 75 minutes and connects the city centre with the <strong>Glasgow West End<\/strong>, a renovated area overlooking River Clyde and where it is possible to visite some of the most famous city museums.<\/p>\n<p>The itinerary includes 21 stops located close to the places of interest, helping you to save time for your visit. I got an en-suite room, spacious enough for 1 person. Besides that, it&#8217;s really convenient for those travel to or from Glasgow by bus as <strong>Buchanan station <\/strong><\/span><\/span>is easily reachable in five minutes&#8217; walk.<\/p>\n<p>The single <strong>room<\/strong> with en-suite facilities was big enough for my needs and it was very clean as well. Overall, I had a nice stay though I have to point out the lack of the lift.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>reception <\/strong>is open 24\/24, <strong>b<\/strong><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"La colazione viene servita nella sala nei pressi della reception: dalle 7 alle 9 in settimana e dalle 8 alle 10 nei weekend.\"><strong>reakfast<\/strong> is served 7-9am during the week and 8-10am on Saturdays and Sundays. Otherwise, if you want to explore <strong>Glasgow West End<\/strong> or places like the <a href=\"https:\/\/checkinblog.it\/en\/9-free-things-to-do-and-see-in-glasgow-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em><strong>University of Glasgow and Ashton Lane<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> you can take the <strong>subway<\/strong> (<strong>Buchanan <\/strong>stop).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What to add about my experience? Well, <strong>I felt immediately at home<\/strong> thanks to the lovely staff and all the comforts available in my <span class=\"text\" lang=\"en\"><strong>double room<\/strong> (single use), bathroom en suite. I even found <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"Infatti, oltre ad una piacevole accoglienza da parte del personale della reception, in camera ho trovato una cartolina come quelle che si spedivano una volta assieme ad un foglietto personalizzato di benvenuto.\">a personalised postcard wishing me a nice stay in town.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaking about <strong>breakfast<\/strong>, apart from the rich buffet you can order a main dish like for example eggs with salmon or &#8211;
