When organizing the itinerary in search of the 8 unusual places to visit in Vienna<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a>, I also decided to include several viewpoints located across the historic center<\/strong>, and by doing so I was able to explore some lesser-known areas<\/strong> of the Austrian capital.<\/p>\n

In this case the Vienna City Card<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> was very useful because it allowed me to travel for free<\/strong> on public transportation and also getting discounts<\/strong> on all the attractions I visited.<\/p>\n

I also want to point out that the museums mentioned in the article and the Danube Tower are some of the more than 70 attractions included in the Vienna Pass<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a>, which is valid from 1 to 6 days and also allows unlimited travel on the hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses.<\/p>\n

1) Justiz Caf\u00e9 Terrace<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is located on the top floor of the Palace of Justice<\/strong>, a building that is an architectural gem little known to tourists and locals as well.<\/p>\n

It is in my opinion one of the most beautiful vantage points in Vienna<\/strong> because of its location, near the MuseumQuartier and therefore close to the historic center. It is ideal for admiring and recognizing <\/strong>the city’s iconic buildings<\/strong>, starting with the spires of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the bell tower of St. Michael’s Church.<\/p>\n

On the horizon you spot two other sights that I have included on this list: the famous Prater wheel<\/strong> and the Danube Tower<\/strong>. Looking instead at the surroundings of the Palace of Justice, the Town Hall Square<\/strong> (Rathausplatz), the Volksgarten<\/strong>, Heldenplatz and the Hofburg<\/strong> stand out.<\/p>\n

Justiz Cafe<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> is open from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in line with the hours of the offices located on the floors below. The terrace is freely accessible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2) MQ Libelle Terrace<\/span><\/h2>\n

In the cultural area of the MuseumQuartier<\/strong>, one of the largest in the world, there is a belvedere<\/strong> located on the rooftop of the Leopold Museum<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can easily recognize it by the circular light installations. Access is free.<\/p>\n

3) North Tower of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral<\/span><\/h2>\n

This list must include what is probably the most famous panoramic point in Vienna<\/strong>, directly in the heart of its historic center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Stephansdom north tower<\/strong> – also known as the Eagle Tower<\/em> – is 68 m height<\/strong> but it is not the tallest in St. Stephen’s Cathedral, being surpassed by the south tower “Steffl<\/em>” with its 136 m (accessible by staircase with 343 steps).<\/p>\n

Once at the top, in addition to the splendid 360-degree view over Vienna<\/strong> it is possible to admire the Pummerin<\/strong>, the Austria’s largest bell<\/strong> (and the second largest in Europe), and the exquisite colored roof tiles<\/strong> that make up the eagle, the emblem of the Habsburg Empire, and the coats of arms of Vienna and Austria.<\/p>\n

The ticket office is located just before the elevator<\/strong>, along the left aisle.
