His successor, <strong>James V<\/strong>, added other spaces including the <strong>rooms later used by Mary Queen of Scots<\/strong> during her stay <strong>between 1561-1567<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>She was <\/strong>certainly<strong> one of the most famous monarchs to live at Holyrood Palace<\/strong>. Don\u2019t miss the <em>Suppper Room<\/em>, where on <strong>9 March 1566<\/strong> her private secretary, <strong>David Rizzio<\/strong>, <strong>was killed<\/strong> by her husband, Lord Darnley, with the help of a group of Scottish Protestant nobles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rizzio was stabbed 56 times<\/strong> and it is said that <strong>some bloodstains from his body are still visibile<\/strong> on the floor of the <em>Outer Chamber<\/em> where he was left after the murderer. Have a look to see if you can find them\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Holyrood ceased to be the permanent seat of the Royal court when <strong>James became King of England in 1603 and moved to London<\/strong>.
