Skyway Monte Bianco<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> is much more than a cableway, it is indeed the experience of a lifetime<\/strong>. It links Courmayeur with Pointe Helbronner<\/strong>, a journey from 1,300 m to 3,466 m bringing people closer to the mountains and the sky. The final destination of the ascend is the southern side of Mont Blanc massif<\/strong>, the highest peak in Italy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The cableway is located in Courmayeur, more precisely in Entr\u00e8ves<\/strong>, a halmet 3 Km far from the town centre<\/strong>. It is near too from the Mont Blanc Tunnel<\/strong> between Italy and France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How to get to Skyway Monte Bianco<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is easily reachable from Italy and France<\/strong> as well.<\/p>\n

For those travelling by car<\/strong>, the best route to follow is undoubtedly the highway A5 <\/strong>Turin-Aosta-Courmayeur and then the Strada Statale 26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The closest railway station <\/strong>is situated in Aosta<\/strong>. The nearest airports<\/strong> are Geneva<\/strong> (106 Km), Turin <\/strong>(150 Km), Milan Malpensa <\/strong>(212 Km) and Milan Linate <\/strong>(235 Km).<\/p>\n

Having said that, if you are already based in Entr\u00e8ves – in my case I had a wonderful stay at Locanda La Brenva<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u2013 the Skyway is just within a walking distance.<\/p>\n

History of the Skyway Monte Bianco<\/span><\/h2>\n

Construction work on the current cableway began in March 2011<\/strong> and finally the Skyway opened to the public on 30 May 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, its story is much longer as it dates back to the 1930s. It was at that time that Count Dino Lora Totino<\/strong> explored Aosta Valley to take on high-altitude trails. During his adventures he got the visionary idea to connect Italy and France<\/strong> thanks to a cableway between Courmayeur and Chamonix<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Works began in 1941<\/strong> but the construction of the first section from La Palud<\/em> (Courmayeur, 1,370 m) to Mont Fr\u00e9ty<\/em> (2,173 m) was interrupted due to the Second World. War. The activity was resumed in 1946 and finally the Monte Bianco cableways<\/strong> were opened<\/strong> to the public in<\/strong> 1947<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ascent, stations and what to do in each one

Skyway Monte Bianco<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> was inaugurated in 2015 and today it includes 3 stations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Flixbus<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> and Autolinee SAVDA<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> link Courmayeur<\/strong> with Aosta and many other cities of northern Italy.<\/p>\n
