The weather in Sardinia<\/span><\/h2>\n

Due to its territory conformation the climate of the island<\/strong> is variable from area to area. Generally speaking rain is rare everywhere<\/strong>, especially in the summer.<\/p>\n

In autumn<\/strong> days get shorter but temperatures exceed 20\u00b0 C so sea water is still warm<\/strong>. In the evening the air is cooler. Winter<\/strong> is short and the lowest temperatures are reached in January-February, especially in the inland areas. Snow<\/strong> is concentrated in the mountains whilst temperatures along the coast rarely drops below freezing.<\/p>\n

In spring<\/strong> days get longer, temperatures rise up to 20\u00b0 C and rainfall decreases. This is the best period of the year for enjoying nature<\/strong>, having the first swims<\/strong> or doing some trekkings<\/strong>. Summer<\/strong> is long, hot (over 30\u00b0C) and dry. Sea breeze cools the air and temperatures drop a little.<\/p>\n

How to get to Sardinia from Italy and abroad<\/span><\/h2>\n

The island is well-connected to Italy mainland<\/strong> and Europe by ship or airplane<\/strong> all year long<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

By ferry<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Port of Cagliari<\/strong> is situated in the heart of the city centre of the Capital of Sardinia <\/strong>so it is the perfect place from where to start exploring its sites of interest and surroundings<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a>. The port is also the main access to the south of the island<\/strong>. Ferry companies operate to\/from Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples and Palermo.<\/p>\n

The Port of Arbatax<\/strong> is located in this picturesque fishermen\u2019s village in Ogliastra<\/strong> from where visitors coming from Civitavecchia and Genoa can access to East Sardinia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Port of Olbia<\/strong>, near the historic centre of the city, is the gateway to the northeast of Sardinia<\/strong> and it is connected to Civitavecchia, Piombino, Livorno and Genoa. Then, the small Port of Golfo Aranci<\/strong> is located just 20 minutes away from Olbia<\/strong> and it is served by ferry services from Piombino, Livorno and Nice (France).<\/p>\n

The Olbia Airport<\/em> <\/strong><\/span><\/a>is located south of the city and it is an intense hub of international tourist movement to famous nearby areas such as Costa Smeralda<\/strong>, easily reachable from here even by bus.<\/p>\n

The Alghero-Fertilia Airport<\/strong> is 10 Km away from the city centre and 33 Km far from Sassari. Local buses link the terminal to Alghero as well as to other destinations like Stintino<\/strong> and S. Teresa di Gallura<\/strong>. Having a car<\/strong> is definitely the best way to discover Sardinia with full freedom<\/strong>. You can rent it at all airports<\/strong> and major cities<\/strong>. During high season it is highly recommended to book it in advance<\/strong>. Sardinia is the only Italian region without motorways<\/strong>, anyway the road network is well developed as no-toll dual carriageway roads<\/strong> connect principal towns, airports and seaports to the main tourist places across the island.<\/p>\n
